SAL sync

If your league or County FA allocates fixtures through SAL (Sport Allocation), penalty.app can connect directly and pull your upcoming games straight in — saving you from copying details manually after every allocation.

Connecting your SAL account

1

Go to Settings → Integrations → SAL

Open the app, tap Settings and scroll to Integrations. Find the SAL section and tap to connect.

2

Enter your SAL email and password

Use the same credentials you use to log in to sal.refsec.app. penalty.app exchanges them for a secure token — your password is never stored. Only the encrypted token is saved to your account.

Your password is used once to get a token, then discarded. penalty.app cannot see or retrieve your SAL password after connection.

3

The sync banner appears

Once connected, a sync banner appears on your dashboard and matches page. Tap Check for fixtures to pull the latest allocations from SAL.

Importing fixtures

When the sync finds new fixtures, they appear as a list below the banner. Each row shows the match details. Import them individually or all at once.

Tips

Check the day allocations are sent

Most leagues send SAL allocation emails on the same day each week. Check penalty.app on that day to import fixtures promptly before you forget.

Import all for a clean start of week

Use 'Import all' on Monday or Tuesday to pull in every new fixture at once, then add your fees to each one as you confirm them.

Add your fee immediately after importing

The import pre-fills match details but not your fee — each league pays differently. Open each imported match and fill in the fee so your dashboard totals are accurate from day one.

Disconnect if your league switches systems

If your league moves from SAL to Fulltime, disconnect SAL in Settings and set up the Fulltime integration instead. Previously imported matches are unaffected.

Frequently asked questions

What is SAL?

SAL (Sport Allocation) is a referee management platform used by some leagues and County FAs to allocate referees to matches. If your league uses SAL, you will receive fixture allocation notifications through the platform and can log into sal.refsec.app to see your upcoming games.

Is my SAL password stored?

No. When you connect SAL, penalty.app uses your email and password to request a secure token from the SAL system. Once the token is received, your password is discarded — only the encrypted token is stored. Your password never sits in penalty.app's database.

How often does the sync run?

The sync banner appears on your dashboard and matches page when it has been more than 24 hours since the last check, or when there are pending fixtures. Tap 'Check for fixtures' to trigger a sync at any time.

Can I import all fixtures at once?

Yes. When the sync finds multiple new fixtures, an 'Import all' button appears at the top of the list. This imports every pending fixture in one go. Each fixture creates a match record pre-filled with the date, teams, competition, venue, and kick-off time.

What information comes across from SAL?

Each SAL fixture includes: home team, away team, competition name, date, kick-off time, venue name, and postcode. All of this is pre-filled when you import the fixture as a match record. You then add your fee and payment details.

What if I stop using SAL?

Go to Settings → Integrations and disconnect the SAL integration. This removes the stored token. Any matches already imported from SAL remain in your account — they are not affected by disconnecting.
